Monthly Community Update from Sgt Millard – March 2026 |
||
|
Hello Resident,
Let me start by introducing myself, I’m Claire Millard, your new Neighbourhood Sergeant for Erdington. I’ve been in the seat since January and while I know I have some big shoes to fill following Sgt John Reeves, I’m ready to hit the ground running. I’ve spent twelve years in policing starting at the Met before transferring to WMP in 2021 and moving into Public Protection, so I’ve seen a lot in my time. But my goal here is simple: I want you to feel safe in your own neighbourhood.
So here’s a quick update from the team on what we’ve been working on recently:
🔹 County Lines Intensification Week Children’s homes across the ward were visited, with support staff completing dedicated workshops to raise awareness and strengthen safeguarding. A knife arch operation was also carried out at a local secondary school to promote safety and prevention.
🔹 Enforcement & Intelligence We’ve made 2 arrests which have helped safeguard vulnerable victims, and submitted 25 intelligence logs to support ongoing investigations and proactive policing.
🔹 High Street & Partnerships We’re continuing to build strong partnerships along the high street, and we’re pleased to share that the Operation Fearless team will be returning in April. We can confirm that PC Andy Boyle will be the dedicated officer for the high street.
🔹 Community Engagement We’ve been attending as many community events as possible, including St Barnabas community cafés and the local high street market. We also attended the opening of the newly refurbished McDonald’s at Yenton, which remains an important and often undervalued community hub.
🔹 Volunteering & Youth Engagement WMP Cadets have been out with us supporting recruitment for our Streetwatch scheme, thank you to everyone who has shown interest so far!
🔹 Local Surgeries Our high street surgeries are continuing at the hub located between B&M and Wilton Market. Invitations will be shared via WMNOW updates, and dates/times are also displayed on the hub door.
🔹 Community Celebrations We’ve been proud to support Eid celebrations over the past month, Eid Mubarak to all those who celebrate!
✅ Good News Overall burglary and anti-social behaviour (ASB) are continuing to reduce across the area.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support, please keep engaging with us and sharing information.
